SCCi Preserves by State

Caves listed as "Open" do not require a permit or advance notification. Please keep your group small and avoid disturbing or inconveniencing our neighbors.

NOTICE: To help prevent the spread of the deadly White Nose Syndrome (WNS) affecting bat populations, please read the SCCi Cave Visitation Policy before you plan a trip to an SCCi cave. Some caves now require visitors to fill out a the WNS Permit Questionnaire and Compliance Statement. Check individual cave preserve pages for details.

The following SCCi caves are closed to protect sensitive bat colonies from WNS: Lobelia Saltpeter Cave (WV), Frenchman Knob Cave (WV), Holly Creek Cave (TN), Rattling Cave (TN), Wolf River Cave (TN), Anderson Cave (AL), Fern Cave, Surprise Pit (AL), and Fricks' Cave (GA).

The following SCCi caves are open (caves in Kentucky and Tennessee may have new permit requirements; contact the property manager for details): Logsdon Cave (KY), Gourdneck Cave (TN), Sinking Cove Cave (TN), Snail Shell Cave (TN), South Pittsburg Pit (TN), Glove Pit (AL), Horse Skull and Jack's Hole (AL), Kennamer Cave (AL), Limrock Blowing (AL), Long Island Cove (AL), Neversink (AL), Steward Spring Cave (AL), Tumbling Rock (AL), Valhalla (AL), Fox Mountain (GA), Howard's Waterfall (GA), Hollow Ridge (FL), and Jennings Cave (FL).
